Load testing tool

Load testing can be done manually and by using an automation testing tool:

1. test testing is done manually

This type of load testing is done manually so that it cannot provide sufficient pressure on the application. Also, it can be very expensive to do load testing manually because it requires a lot of workers.

2. load testing tool developed in the company

An organization can build its own proprietary tools to test the load on the application.

3. Loading testing tools (Open Source)

These tools are available free for fees but they are not classy like a licensed load testing tool mentioned below. The most commonly used open source load testing tool is JMeter.

4. Licensed load testing tool (company)

The licensed load testing tool supports many protocols so that load testing can be done in various types of applications such as ERP / CRM, streaming media etc. Can also mimic many virtual users. The most commonly used licensed load testing tool is LoadRunner.

Process - How do I do load testing?

The load testing process involves the following steps: how to test loads

1. Test Environmental Settings

In this step the testing environment for load test is setting. The testing environment must be arranged as close as possible with the production environment in terms of hardware, networks, software specifications etc.

2. Set performance criteria

Performance metrics for load tests are defined in this step and success criteria are resolved. This can include defining acceptable limits on throughput, response time, transactions etc.

3. Plan test

This involves the development of a clear load test plan and prepares the testing environment.

4. Virtual User Creation (Vuser)

It involves the creation of vuser scripts containing various tasks carried out by each vuser. The task done by the vuser can be measured as a transaction.

5. Creation of scenarios

A scenario is a combination of machines (agents), scripts, and visors that run during the test session. In LoadRunner, the scenario was made using the LoadRunner controller. Scenario can consist of two types: manual and destination oriented.

6. Run a scenario

The load on the server is imitated by running a lot of vases to do the task simultaneously. Before running a scenario, the scenario configuration, and scheduling needs to be set. We can run all scenarios, groups of users or individual users.

7. Monitor the scenario

Scenarios can be monitored using online monitors LoadRunner such as run-time transactions, system resources, web resources, network delays etc.

8. Analyse the test results

This is the most important step in the load testing process. In the step of this tester analyses performance congestion using graphics and reports generated during the scenario execution. Test load may have to be repeated after fixing the problems identified in load tests.
