RPA Vs Test Automation

What is the robot process automation?

Robotic Process Automation is an interesting concept because it allows you to automate these routine manual tasks and optimize your business process at a very professional level. With RPA you can easily automate all tasks that are rather repetitive and boring (tasks that take time, rule-based tasks). Also, it can be applied to several industries that are very helpful.

Why do we need it?

There are many benefits in the automation of the robot process like,

Automate worldly duties such as data entry

Your job will not be disturbed 24 × 7

RPA bots can do work 4 to 8 employees thus increase productivity

RPA can be implemented quickly, and easy to scale

Overview Automation Test

Test automation is the process of implementing test cases with the help of automation tools.

By automating the testing process, there will be fewer human intervention and you can run a test case overnight without someone who oversees the process. There are many test automation tools available on the market that help facilitate this process.

Is RPA similar to testing automation?

In essence, they may look similar because both of them rely on automation. However, there are differences.

Test automation needs to be applied to a product, it must be implemented through a different environment and also limited to a user set.

Automation of robotic processes, on the other hand, can be applied to business processes and products. It only requires a single production environment and can be used by all individuals in a team.

Can RPA be considered a testing tool?

Automation of robotic processes can be considered a testing tool to a certain extent, but only as an umbrella term.

But it's still not as good as the automation of testing. But you can think of it as a testing tool at the base level.

Can Selenium used for robot process automation?

There are many test automation tools on the market such as selenium, catalylers, QTP and Appium. This is a good test automation tool. And no, they cannot be used for the robot process automation.

Because the test automation tool has constraints, they need software to run.

As you can see, there is no testing tool that will help as a RPA tool, so it can be a little challenging at first, but it is very important to consider and remember.

Robot process automation causes work losses

Automation Robotic process does not eat work. If there is, it clearly shows that around 5% or even less work will disappear due to automation.

But RPA itself will not cause a loss of work or something.

You just need to realize that some work will eventually become obsolete. But the automation of the robot process is not connected with it.

To conclude

As you can see, the robotic process automation does have many things that need to be cleaned.

But at the end of the day, the most important aspect is that the automation of the robot process and test automation is not the same. They may feel similar, but there are clear differences to think about.
