How Medics Are Using VR to Prepare for the Covid in 2020

How Medics Are Using VR to Prepare for the COVID in 2020

Did you know that nearly 3 million people worldwide have been tested positive for the dreaded COVID-19? With no sure-shot drugs or vaccines available today, it is becoming extremely difficult for medical personnel around the world to protect and the protection of society from this deadly virus.

With a growing gap between demand and supply of doctors and nurses to combat COVID-19, the hospital is actively training for staff on special training for COVID 19th pandemic with the help of Virtual Reality (VR).

Doctors have been using VR in the treatment for several years for the physical and psychological therapy along with providing VR training for doctors involved in the study of surgery. However, in the wake of the 19th COVID pandemic, medical personnel now rely on the advantages of virtual reality in medicine to prepare the medical staff to handle cases of coronavirus.

Using VR Preparing for Coronavirus Battlefront

COVID Specific Training at Cedars Sinai Hospital:

The Cedars Sinai Hospital, which is a non-profit hospital located in Los Angeles, California has used VR therapy for pain management for many years. Currently, the VR simulation has been integrated as part of a dynamic training program for COVID-19 treatment.

How Paramedics Are Using VR Preparing for Coronavirus Battlefront -

With the help of VR simulation of real-life health, more than three hundred doctors at Cedars Sinai has learned some life-saving skills related to COVID-19 treatment, including:

Perform CPR while wearing protective equipment

using the ventilator

The diagnosis of the patient's health based on medical history and reports

Assessment of patient care.

Use the Oxford Medical Simulation:

Oxford Medical Simulation recreates real-life situations to help staff respond faster and more efficiently with the actual conditions. Some of their simulation including patient gasping for air or the patient vomiting blood.

It also helps create a realistic platform for trainees to understand how to check the condition of the patient's lungs or abdomen while wearing protective gear. There is also the option to almost learn how to wear protective gear as soon as possible.

All participants need is a VR headset or tablet to create this situation either at home or in a hospital.

Studying the Impact of COVID-19 on Lung Health in GW Hospital

George Washington Hospital has been using virtual reality technology over the past four years to the education of patients and medical personnel to teach surgical skills.

With the onset of the 19th COVID pandemic, has created a 360 degree view of the lung COVID 19 patients with the help of virtual reality technology to study the impact of a coronavirus in the lungs. VR technology helps medical experts at GW Hospital to study the long-term impact of COVID-19 in lung damage.

Advantages of Virtual Reality in Medicine

There are many advantages of virtual reality in medicine to not only doctors and nurses but also the patients included:

Facilitate social distancing-no need really to be close to the patient

Prevent the spread of infectious diseases due to the lack of contact

Provide realistic simulations including voice to help trainees overcome real-life threats and risks

practical experience and repetitive practice sessions help participants develop accuracy and a better experience

Helps develop team work better in a team

Increased safety of patients and medical staff

Facilitate the storage and sharing of patient data that can be accessed by medical experts from around the world.

Coronavirus lethal effect has changed the way the world lives. And VR will change the way health professionals cope with coronavirus.
